On October 24th, the Nottingham Health and Care Awards, hosted by the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System and Nottinghamshire Lieutenancy were held at a ceremony at the University of Nottingham.  The awards recognised the work of individuals and organisations from across the health, care and voluntary sector.

The SSBC Family Mentors were really delighted to be awarded the Social Value Award - for services which could demonstrate social value by delivering sustainable health and care services, supporting communities with issues such as the rising cost of living or by improving employment opportunites.  The judges felt that the entry showed strength in its ability to provide real evidence of the outcomes and impact the service has on the lives of families they work with.

We've always been proud of our Family Mentor Service and what they achieve on a daily basis, having others recognise the work they do adds the icing on the cake!

“We are still on cloud nine to have won the award and It’s very overwhelming and emotional to have won. We are ecstatic that the Family Mentors have been recognised for the exceptional work they do in sitting alongside parents and children and sharing their journey. It has cemented the fact our service is needed and makes a real difference in both our lives and the families – We are extremely grateful to have been nominated.”

As the team accepted their award, it was clear to see how proud and passionate they are about the work they do and what it means to them and most importantly to the families they work with.  And, who knew, parenting does now come with a handbook!

“We are so delighted that the support given to local families by our family mentors has been recognised and valued in this way. Winning the Social Value Award is the icing on the cake and demonstrates what we all know; That the Family Mentor Service has made a huge and significant difference to so many families and led to positive outcomes for hundreds of children, giving them the best start in life. ”
