On Saturday morning, Bulwell Family Mentors, Luan Vickers and Rachel Pearson placed a very special bouquet in Market Square to mark the passing of our late Queen, Elizabeth II.

The bouquet was made entirely from paper hand and footprints, which SSBC families across Bulwell have been busy creating at groups and home visits over the past two weeks.

Parents helped babies dip teeny hands into paint before pressing them on paper, whilst older ones were free to create a print themselves. Only red, blue and white paint were used to commemorate her Majesty the Queen’s reign over Britain.

Everyone got very excited about the project, with over 100 hand and footprints collected. Next they were delicately transformed into a beautiful bouquet, complete with tiara, by the super-creative Family Mentor team.

“We wanted to come up with a simple way that enabled children of any age to commemorate the Queen. It’s such an important historical event, and in the future when children look back on this time, their parents will be able to share a special memory with them.”

The bouquet was also accompanied by a note, which read, 'Farewell and thank you to our beloved Queen. We have printed out all of our wonderful families' handprints to wave you goodbye and baby footprints to say thank you for walking with us throughout your life. Rest in peace your Majesty. Queen of our hearts forever.'
