Alicja & Anna's Story

I decided to have a Family Mentor because I wanted to feel supported. I wanted to benefit from having someone to answer all the questions I had as a first-time mum. If there was support being offered, then why not take it.

The groups are great, all the children playing together and enjoying themselves. Our favourites were Cook & Play and Story & Rhyme Time. It’s great to see the kids having lots of fun and learning at the same time. If I would have had more free time, we would have attended more often as the sessions were good for Anna’s development.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library books were great, they were like little gifts for my daughter, she was happy to receive them each month.

I have a really good relationship with my Family Mentor Abi. When they matched us up, they were spot on. We got on so well from the start and developed a great friendship. She is so easy to talk to.

Not only did she give me great advice about how I could support Anna’s development, but I could also ask her about anything that was on my mind, and she would always do what she could to support me.

I’m very happy that she was chosen to be my Mentor – Even though we are no longer with the service, I wish she could still be my Mentor now.

I wish there were more Family Mentors available across more areas so that all families could have access to the service.
