Haley started volunteering at SSBC groups in Aspley after she lost her job during the Covid pandemic. Now she has a new job as a support worker.

Kathryn, Chris and their daughter Rose signed up to Home Talk after completing Tiny Steps to Talking, our speech and language group for parents and caregivers with under 2s.

'From the initial visit with the Family Mentors, I was impressed with what the service had to offer so I thought why not try it.'

'Even though this was my second child and I’d done it all before. I didn’t have much support around me, and I would have two children to take care of. I knew there would be things I had forgotten from last time around and things I would be unsure about.'

'I found out about the service through the post and my Health Visitor. I was pregnant with my first child and I didn’t really know what to expect. I thought I could benefit from some help with it all and could get guidance from the service.'

'I heard about the service whilst visiting my GP’s surgery. I was interested as I was having my first child, so I was referred on. I received a call from Stacey, we discussed how the service worked and what support they could offer me.'

'We accepted a referral through our Health Visitor. One of the ladies from the Small Steps Big Changes Family Mentor team came to our house to explain what the service could offer and to ask what kind of support I wanted from them.'
